2008 GEORGETOWN FAIR DEDICATION

Molly Reeves
2007 Georgetown Fair Queen
2008 Miss Illinois County Fair

The Georgetown Fair Family is extremely pleased and very proud to dedicate the 2008 Georgetown Fair to Miss Molly Reeves, 2007 Miss Georgetown Fair.  Molly was selected Miss Illinois County Fair Queen 2008 at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs convention.  She will reign over the  Illinois State Fair, the DuQuoin State Fair and all county fairs throughout the state during the 2008 fair season.

Molly is a beautiful young lady.  She is beautiful in her physical appearance and even more beautiful and admirable in her approach to life.  She is an outstanding young person who has an eye on a dream for her life.  She has the fortitude, charm, determination, dedication to purpose and the intelligence to chart a course for herself to live her dream.  The Georgetown Fair family is absolutely thrilled for Molly and her family and we are so very, very proud of her.  She honors us with her representation of our fair.

Congratulations Molly!  Thank you from all of us.  Even though Molly is officially “Miss Illinois County Fair,” she remains Miss Georgetown Fair in the hearts of our fair family.

                2008 PREMIUM BOOK DEDICATION

                       Past Georgetown Fair Queens

The Georgetown Fair family dedicates, with pride, our 2008 Premium Book to the 48 ladies who have served our fair as Miss Georgetown Fair through the years.

Our first queen was crowned in 1960.  Since then, 48 ladies from 13 different communities have served as Miss Georgetown Fair.  Miss Georgetown Fair represents our county fair and the ideals for which all county fairs stand.  The responsibilities of the queen range from public service to representing our fair at community and area activities.  Miss Georgetown Fair has worked with many people young and old, from presenting trophies at the fair, reading to school kids,  visiting the VA and working on the annual MDA telethon.  Appearances at other county fairs, parades and key community events are a few of the many activities throughout the year. The  highlight is representing our fair at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Annual Convention and competing for the title Miss Illinois County Fair Queen.  Miss Georgetown Fair has had many individual awards at the state pageant, top 10 finishers, runners up and this year won the title Miss Illinois County Fair Queen.

These 48 ladies are to be commended for their hard work and dedication on behalf of our Fair during their reign.  Each of these girls brought a personal and unique touch to their role of Miss Georgetown Fair.  Each left their mark as our queen and each in her special way made our fair better during her reign. These ladies have gone on to be excellent citizens, wonderful parents, and even fair directors.

Thank you ladies!  We are proud of each of you and wish you and yours peace and happiness in your life.

              PHIL HUMMEL MEMORIAL AWARD
2008 Recipients Karen Thornsbrough and Jill Pope

“If you think you can, you can.  If you think you can’t, you are probably right.”

This anonymous quote perhaps encapsulates the philosophy and attitude which Jill and Karen implore in their roles as Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant directors.  These women workaholics in their directorship of the queen pageant for our fair, are positive in every aspect of their preparation.  Their dedication, determination and work ethic create and produce each year a pageant more spectacular, more stunning, and more beautiful than the previous year.  The pageant setting creates an atmosphere that enhances the talents of the contestants and fosters a feeling of cohesiveness and togetherness among the girls.

Perhaps the greatest attittibute which Karen and Jill contribute to the queen pageant is the pride, the love, the cooperation, the guidance and friendship shown the new queen and her court each year as they begin fulfilling their role as fair royalty.

Congratulations Karen and Jill and thanks for all you do for our fair.
